A SEED WITH A BIG STORY.
For 4,000 years, waterlily seeds have nourished communities across South Asia. We turned that heritage into a modern snack — without compromising on either side.

FROM A HOME KITCHEN IN WINNIPEG.
"We created POPAHARA to prove that snacks don't have to choose between great taste and real nutrition. That's the future we're building, one handful at a time, while giving back to our society by donating 5% of our profits each year to a chosen charity."
— Dharmang & Dhruvi
THREE NON-
NEGOTIABLES.
Farmers first.
We pay directly, that is 30% above local market rate to farming families in Bihar. No middlemen, no squeeze.
Roasted, never fried.
Every seed hits the same process — dry-roasted at exact temp, no additives, zero palm oil, completely repeatable.
Flavor that pops.
We know flavor can't be a drop of mystery substance in a blind base test. Science is all. Simple as that.
THE STORY, IN CHAPTERS.
DHRUVI SAID, "TRY Water lilly seeds."
It started as kitchen-table advice. Dhruvi suggested adding waterlily seeds to my diet — a quiet little upgrade for protein, magnesium, and potassium without changing how we ate.
— a small idea, on a regular eveningTHEN CAME THE LET-DOWN.
We pulled every waterlily seed bag off every shelf in town. The flavours felt like an afterthought — bland, oily, or weirdly sweet — and the options barely scratched two or three SKUs. The seed deserved better.
A GAP NOBODY WAS FILLING.
Healthy snacks tasted like punishment. Tasty snacks were fried, salted, and stripped of nutrition. Nothing on the shelf did both — a real harmony between macros and micros, between flavour and fuel.
SO WE MADE ONE SIMPLE RULE.
It had to taste as good as the greasy stuff. Otherwise, what's the point? We decided to build a snack that made the switch to clean food feel like an upgrade, not a sacrifice.
— healthy shouldn't feel like a trade-offMONTHS OF POPPING, TASTING, ARGUING.
Tests after tests. Spice blend after spice blend. We roasted, we re-roasted, we made our families taste-test until they begged us to stop. Slowly, a shortlist emerged.
THREE FLAVOURS. ONE PHILOSOPHY.
We landed on a trio that covered the whole craving spectrum — one sweet, one savoury, one spicy. Peri-Peri for the chilli heads. Cheese for the comfort crowd. Ketchup for the kids (and the kid in everyone else). No oil baths. No preservatives. No mystery powder. Just the seed, the spice, and the roast.
